As I type this, there is a 5-year-old girl I know who is receiving the ultimate gift - the gift of a heart and of a new life. And as her family rejoiced at the news that a donor had been found, another family grieved for the loss of their loved one.
Please keep both families in your thoughts today.

Isn't that the craziest thing? I worked in a cardiac ICU where people were being kept alive while waiting for a heart... You get so attached to your patients and hope for a heart for them and then it hits you - someone died for this happiness. It's such a great gift.. I hope I die in such a way that I can donate organs. I also hope that it will be quick and relatively pain free :)
